Map: Here

Cháoyáng Shān (潮阳山) is the hill to the east of Baita Shan (White Pagoda Mountain). At the top, overlooking the Yellow River, is a monument to the Soviet pilots who died during the air battles of Lanzhou during the Second Sino-Japanese War (1937-1941). Take the back road to Baita Shan but go straight on at the gate, and follow the road up to the top. From the monument, it is possible to pick your way down the small dirt tracks to Chaoyang Cun, or to the back of the No.2 Hospital on Bei Binhe Lu (by the river). Precarious in places.
